We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The American people voted for wide open immigration, unlimited public spending, DEI, curtailing fossil fuel production, lenient criminal prosecution, speech censorship and gun control.
I think it will be many years before the GOP can regain control of either the House or the Senate.
If we get a dem president in 2028 and they follow through and pack the court, it is game over.
Democrats are socialist/communists. Republicans are stupid! Republicans had a great opportunity in the last two years and threw it away. There are a million examples but think about Thune going the extra mile to keep congress in session so that there was no chance Trump could appoint people while the Democrats resisted all his appointments. IMHO there is no way that Thune was not bought off. The Republicans are a big disappointment and for the most part they always have been.
IF these elections weren't stolen and the voters choose this outcome then so be it. But there will be a price to pay. No! Not from Republicans, they are the do nothing party. No! Not from conservatives they are not the party prone to violence. It will be the left, the Democrats. They will double down and they will be violent.
Amnesty, Packed SCOTUS, DC and Puerto Rico will become the 51st and 52nd states. All those judge positions that the Republicans failed to fill will be filled by far left activist judges. The far left wish list is too long to mention everything but it's coming and the Republicans are as much to blame as the Democrat socialists will be.
If you look at the House of Representatives, this result is a smaller swing than many other recent mid-term elections, including Clinton 1994, Obama 2010, Trump 2018. The Senate is more consequential, but it's still smaller than Obama 2010. The real question is whether it is a realignment. That will depend on whether there is a long-term loss by Republicans of younger voters, Hispanics, and the working-class. Typically, you will see a reversion to the mean. Republicans will have their day when they abandon their extreme positions and continued corruption. In any case, you seem to reject the hyperventilating by some on the political right. It's not the end of the world just because Democrats gain support. Speaking of which...
feeblemind: GOP losses were catastrophic. The American people voted for wide open immigration, unlimited public spending, DEI, curtailing fossil fuel production, lenient criminal prosecution, speech censorship and gun control.
That assumes all Democrats support the extremes of those positions.
OneGuy: Democrats are socialist/communists.
While there is an active left-wing faction in the Democratic Party, most Democrats are not socialists proper (here meaning the government controlling the means of production). Consider when Obama was president. He would have signed a universal health care bill, but he ended up with a creaky Republican-styled market solution. And that was with strong majorities in both chambers of Congress.

Or Trump could have nominated people that could get a majority of support in the Congress. That's how it is supposed to work in a Republic.
