Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

QUOTE:
Lula’s Victory Is Surprising Because He Has So Little to Offer Brazil... The surprise came when the PT went further, and asked not the Electoral Court, but the Supreme Court, to keep the polls open until 7 p.m for the entire country.

A negligible number of votes were recorded after 5 pm (less then 1% of the margin of victory), and many of those votes would have been counted without the extension because the people were already in line to vote.

"Feds Raid "Adult Day Care" Centers In New York That Are Almost Entirely Fraudulent"

Every spending bill the federal government passes should include a mandatory auditing requirement with serious penalties for not catching fraud, waste and abuse. If someone, an American, an illegal alien, a foreign entity, anyone, steals or acquires any taxpayer money fraudulently and isn't caught and punished for it then the highest level of that federal department should be held accountable along with the lower level workers who should have caught the fraud, to include jail time! The fact that some 20 YO high school graduate YouTube "reporter" can find massive amounts of fraud with nothing more than his brain and a camera should be an embarrassment to every federal worker.

Walmart and Amazon deliver food/groceries. I was sitting in my comfortable chair one day and suddenly I craved some parmesan cheese. It was just past lunch time and I didn't feel like driving to the store to buy it so I went onto Walmart's website and they have it and will deliver it. My first thought was I didn't have a online Walmart account and didn't feel like going to the trouble and it dawned on my I had an Amazon account. So just for laughs I went to Amazon and they had the same cheese and it was even cheaper than Walmart's. So I ordered it. So three hours later I'm still sitting in my recliner watching stupid YouTube videos and the Amazon driver walks onto the porch and puts the delivery on the little table and walks back to his truck. I go git is and it's the cheese I just ordered. This is crazy! How do they do this. I have since ordered a number of groceries from Amazon and they get here before it's time to start dinner. Thank you Jeff Bezos.
