We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
"English professor warns: Today’s students cannot read or focus on lengthy assignment" Since today's children were young they have continually been entertained by short fast clips of children's' TV shows and then on computer screens. Schools haven't required much actual reading of books for decades like we had to do back in the 60's. Kids and some parents expect their kids to be entertained in class like when watching TV so attention spans have gotten shorter and shorter. Now they feel compelled to keep checking their phones for the latest updates on anything. Instant gratification.
Scott Platner is the face of today’s Democrat Party. He encapsulates all their lunacy. The only ideology he seems to be missing is the rainbow. He’s got the pedophilia going for him, though. That seems to be a plus, in the modern Democrat platform.
Just my humble opinion: There is no bad bacon. I obviously recognize that some bacon is more awesome than others but if you offered me a plate of the cheapest bacon with eggs and English muffins I would eat it all with great joy and lick the plate. I do prefer the thicker cut with lots of meat cooked well but still flexible, but I will eat whatever bacon is served and I will sop up the grease with my English muffin or toast like it was maple syrup.
I don't dislike bacon, but I don't understand how many people consider it so great. I could live my whole life without another piece of bacon and I wouldn't miss it except on an occasional BLT.
I would consider the bacon in the article to be burned. I would scrape it in the dog bowl and start over.
Off topic, but I just left a comment in another thread and as soon as I left Maggie's, I got a fake Microsoft Security Alert, telling me my computer was locked up and to call the number on the screen. Don't know if the two events are related, but I do always see "Not secure" in the browser address bar when I visit here. Bird Dog might want to look into that a bit.
It was more than a message; it was a full screen takeover, and I had to Ctrl-Alt-Delete out of my browser, turn of internet access, then go back and clear the browser cache before I could get it to behave normally again. I ran a virus scan after that and nothing was found, thank goodness.
Mine was also more than a message. I had to do a hard reset on the computer, let it reboot, reload the browser (Chromium offers "restore" depending on how the computer closed it the previous time) and then close that tab before it fully opens.
I know better than to call Microsoft for anything!
