Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Waving the flag turns you off!?
I could say; I don't get it. But I do get it. There is a cabal of communist countries, anti-Christian, anti-white/make, anti-American useful idiots either creating anti-American propaganda or bathing in anti-American propaganda. And it isn't just anti-American, the West is under attack world wide. When you see all those protestors, and sometimes rioters, in Minnesota and other places the media fails to tell you that China and other terrible regimes paid for that. The useful idiots who do it for free are clueless (I mean at least they should take the money paid to the other traitors). There are a few YouTube videos where you can see the rioters show up and get handed anti-ICE signs from a rental truck. One video actually followed the pay master/traitor asking questions but very quickly the bodyguard put a stop to any investigative journalism. There are other videos where after exactly three hours all the demonstrators simply walk away, obviously paid for three hours work and no more. But you won't see that reporting on TV news. You won't hear anyone on the View tell you that both of the people who got shot while attacking ICE agents were paid and trained by foreign governments whose intent is to cause chaos in America. Why? Wouldn't that be a huge national story? Just put together what is known, no actual investigation needed and you would become a national star of world news. So why the silence? Because our MSM is part of the cabal. Many are just stupid or useful idiots. Many were brain washed in college or at work. Some are indeed anti-American often for no other reason than that they embrace socialism/communism. But make no mistake some of the MSM and those behind the scenes are foreign nationalist who do not have America's best interests in mind. We are at war and unwilling or unable to acknowledge it. The war is being fought right here in our country. re Gavin Newsom: Not Ready for Prime Time
This footage looks like a solid gold gift to the GOP to use against him if he wins the nomination. Would his Dem opponents use it against him in the primaries? Unknown, but people have been canceled for less. re Democrats Oppose SAVE Act to ‘Cheat’ in Elections
This goes hand-in-hand with Newsom's remarks. Their standard reply for the opposition to voter ID is that black people are too stupid to know how to how to get a voter ID. The great irony here is that Republicans would never get away with the same remarks. feeblemind: Their standard reply for the opposition to voter ID is that black people are too stupid to know how to how to get a voter ID.
The usual argument is that some people don't have easy access to the required documents, especially women who had changed their last name, or people in rural areas that may have to travel long distances to go to a registration office. Costs in time and money may make it hard for the working poor to meet the new requirements. That will reduce their participation in elections. The requirement to travel long distances to register in person is one reason why Senator Murkowski of Alaska has opposed the current SAVE bill. Many of her residents, including first peoples, would have to take a plane trip just to register to vote. It's always best to try to understand an opposing point of view instead of rejecting it out of hand. There's that satanic logic again!
"But guys, we need to maintain a system where you can literally register your cat to vote - because eskimoes." The usual argument is that some people don't have easy access to the required documents, especially ...people in rural areas that may have to travel long distances to go to a registration office.
Need to travel long distances to get the documents? I called the clerk at the rural township that had my birth certificate---two thousand miles from my current residence. They informed me what I needed to do, and ten days from my mailing payment plus appropriate documents, I got my birth certificate via snail mail. Couldn't have been faster. My cousins in rural Montana would also beg to differ with your statement. Gringo: Need to travel long distances to get the documents?
The proposed SAVE act requires in-person registration in most cases. OMG! Zachriel--you are such a class A act of the communist/socialist party!
For example: your refusalt to acknowledge that the eskimos have access to big city--or even small city services, is stunning. They fly in/out of nearest towns whenever they want! They do it for medical services, they do it for training classes, they do it to shop, etc. At any one of those trips they could pick up the "necessary documents". Shucks--I'll bet that even the local missionary or non profit agency (local school?) would help them get their paperwork sorted!! Dirty commies: "Voter fraud is not even a problem."
Also dirty commies: "And if you try to prevent it we will fight tooth and nail to stop you." faculty wife,
Costs don't include just the airfare, but a possible overnight stay, convincing the boss to get time off from work, lost wages, and fees for required documents. Tribal IDs don't include place of birth or citizenship. Showing up without the proper documents may mean a second trip. But there's a simple test: Take a plane flight to register to vote. Maybe you're a jet-setter, not problem for you. But for most people, especially the working poor, you will find that much more of a burden than registering to vote at the registrar down the block for a middle class person in an urban or suburban area who can easily take off work. Now, that doesn't mean there aren't possible solutions that answer concerns about identity and voting, while also making voting accessible. But that requires acknowledging the concerns of eligible voters who would find it significantly more difficult to vote, instead of just hoping they won't vote. I have as yet to find a single media outlet interview a potential voter that just can't get an ID to vote as a legal citizen. Quit pretending to be concerned about citizen voters, it's all about illegal voters and illegitimate elections as a result.
You will never see the media interview someone like this because there would be an immediate outpouring of good will and offers to help this poor person. And the satanists don't want that.
Better to just use them anonymously as a political bludgeon. Long time election official here.
When our state implemented a photo ID requirement for voting I did see one class of people that had difficulty and that is the super-elderly that are in facilities of one kind or another. However, the problem is not widespread. Based on our small sample size it would be about 1 person in 5000 that could not produce or get an ID and the elderly population is dominant in our area. Even then, the laws are generous with alternative pathways to vote. It just takes a bit more paperwork, the voter to sign an affidavit, and some validation efforts on the part of our office. Photo ID was widely supported by people registered in both major political parties. My practical experience has shown that it did not reduce the expected turnout at all. Proving citizenship ala the SAVE act seems more problematic, but could be mitigated depending on how the law is written. I don't have any experience with that, so I don't have an expert opinion. We may need to become birth certificate experts...but we'll just add that to the list of esoteric things we already have to know. Bird Dog: We need a Blizzard recap from you. Did this Nor'easter exceed the great blizzard of '78 in your neighborhood?
I still remember my parents having to leave the car and trudge through the drifts about 1½ miles to reach home, and it was a few days before the town plows made it out to them. It was over 3 ft of snow, for them, drifts much worse of course. If you care about accuracy in news reporting, then you should know that the audience Newsom was speaking to wasn't black. It was almost entirely white.
