We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
All of those figures worked within republican government. Trump does not.
A good example is the tariff war. Trump declared an emergency over a situation that has been around for decades. Seizing this power has allowed Trump to reorder the national and global economic system without republican check or accountability. That's called autocracy. Any such massive change, given a republican form of government, must involve an independent legislature that is willing to assert their fundamental authority under the Constitution (Article I, Section 8).
We have an independent Congress and independent Supreme Court. You simply dislike what they are doing. This is also NOT the first time we have had emergencies or martial law. You really miss the old FDR courts and McConnell/Boehner rinos.

Peter Sweden: Free speech under attack in Europe
Protecting free speech is always an ongoing battle. Of note, most of western Europe is rated better for free speech than the United States (per indices World Press Freedom, Freedom House, Freedom of Expression, and Global Economy).

Miranda Devine: Trump turns tables on Democrats after years of lawfare — now it’s time to hold them accountable ... He showed Hillary mercy because he wanted the country to “heal” from the discord of the Obama years.
The president's whims as to whether to prosecute or not prosecute are not how the rule of law works. If Clinton was guilty of a crime, then she should have been charged and prosecuted. {However, the evidence was lacking for a prosecutable crime.}
The impacts of greenhouse gas emissions... finally, a report that doesn't stoop to mayhem and panic over CO2. May the climate Borg be defunded and sent to the California veggie fields to accomplish some productive work.
Canada Has Recognized the Nation of Palestine, Trump Should Recognize the Independence of Alberta & Quebec
QUOTE:
Canada ultimately is powerless to stop breakaway provinces. Recognition from the United States that Alberta and Quebec are free and independent, and that we will provide all resources and aid necessary to ensure their independence, may be all that is needed to break up the terror-supporting nation of Canada.
Elites like socialism because they think their type of job and their avenues to status will be pretty much the same, or better. They have little awareness that they are being self-serving, yet they unerringly choose that side.
