Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

The Tulsi Gabbard information is huge. We are going to see all the stops pulled out to convince us 1. it never happened, 2. it might have happened but is unimportant, 3. it was good that it happened, and 4. we should all move on now.
Yeah, Shakespeare never wrote all those plays. It was somone else named Shakespeare. QUOTE: Gabbard: Evidence Shows Obama, Team Staged 'Coup' on Trump The reporting is manipulative. QUOTE: Russia was "probably not trying … to influence the election by using cyber means" but changed its tune after Trump was elected. Ellipses are often a clue. "Russia probably is not (and will not) trying to influence the election by using cyber means to manipulate computer-enabled election infrastructure."
QUOTE: We agree with: Russia probably is not (and will not) trying to influence the election by using cyber means to manipulate computer-enabled election infrastructure. Yes, if we're going further, while Russia has some capability to conduct cyber manipulation of election infrastructure, we judge that efforts by them (or others) to change the outcome of an election through cyber means would be detected. That's a key element of our cyber-focused PDB. We assess that foreign adversaries, notably Russia, are more likely to focus their cyber operations on undermining credibility/public confidence. That assessment feeds directly into the influence operations, some cyber-enabled, that we've seen related to current and historic election cycles. We concur with CIA's change related to that. — Chief, NCCIC Intelligence Support Branch, 2016 QUOTE: Russia probably is not trying to going to be able to? influence the election by using cybr means to manipulate computer enabled election infrastructure. Russia probably is using cybr means primarily to influence the election by stealing campaign party data and leaking select items, and it is also using public propaganda. — Deputy Director / PDB, 2016 Here's a typical example of the media unquestioningly spreading the manipulative narrative, even though the reporters must certainly know that the Trump administration lies as a matter of course.
QUOTE: Fox News: Obama admin 'manufactured' intelligence to create 2016 Russian election interference narrative, documents show. They use the same ellipsis. They make the same conflation, that Russia not hacking ballot systems means the same as Russia not interfering in the election through other means. Yet:
Wednesday, May 17, 2021 Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein today announced the appointment of former Department of Justice official and FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III to serve as Special Counsel to oversee the previously-confirmed FBI investigation of Russian government efforts to influence the 2016 presidential election and related matters. So why the need to spend $40 million and 2 years to investigate what they already knew? Evidence Shows Obama, Team Staged 'Coup' on Trump
And yet, there will be no trials, no 5:00 am SWATing followed by perp walks. No massive release of all the information. Nothing! Obama will still be running the anti-American party, Comey and others will still be walking the beaches looking for sea shells, going on TV denying everything (and getting away with it because the Republican/stupid party won't release everything). The Republicans in congress will continue to do little to nothing, stalling until the mid terms. After the Dems take back congress Lindsey Graham will "flop" back to the left. The deportations will end and all of this will be for nothing. OneGuy: And yet, there will be no trials, no 5:00 am SWATing followed by perp walks.
Of course not, even though Trump controls all the organs of the executive, including having seized direct control of the the Justice Department, plus having a complacent legislature and compliant judiciary. That's because it's just a manipulated narrative meant to distract you while the oligarchy raids the treasury. The oligarchy?
The oligarchy in this country is: Barack Husain Obama. Joe Biden. Hillary and Bill Clinton. The Bush Family. Nancy Pelosi. Chuck Schumer. Bernie Sanders. And countless other career politicians. All of them used their power and influence to become multi millionaires. Feed their nasty commie pie holes from the public trough. Taxing everything they can, to steal from honest, hardworking citizens and give to themselves. They also print money as fast as the printing presses can run. Causing inflation to further devalue what we do manage to scrimp and save to become more useless by the day. They’re so greedy that they’ll tax the pittance in interest on my humble savings. They’ll tax the same dollar as many times as they possibly can. They will increase the number of IRS agents. Create laws to further their monitoring of my spending - all in the name of the war on drugs. The constant need for war allows them to do further evil. A citizen can’t move money from the bank without arising suspicion from the crooks in government. They’re want to eliminate paper currency to make monitoring easier. Every transaction must be taxed. If all else fails they’ll confiscate my wealth under civil forfeiture. All the while they exempt themselves from laws, including insider trading, national health insurance, and many other clever ways to multiply their wealth. But, let a batch of newly elected congressional representatives go about trying to shrink the size and scope of government, and listen to the pigs howl. The oligarchy! B. Hammer: All of them used their power and influence to become multi millionaires.
We'll just take the first on your list. The Obamas' released their complete tax returns. They made most of their money from their published books, Barack being a best-selling author long before he was president. (For instance, Dreams From My Father sold 4 million copies.) Regardless, the effect of Trump's economic policies is to borrow money from China and other investors for tax breaks for the rich. Later on, either inflation or increased taxes or both will be required, which will be footed primarily by the middle class and by cuts to services for the poor. Obama probably didn't write much of his books. They're mostly works of fiction anyway.
He made his real money selling some nonsense about making content for Netflix, IIRC. Which he didn't do because it turned out nobody cared. https://www.billboard.com/pro/barack-michelle-obama-netflix-deal/ If you look closely at his book deals, I suspect you'll find that it was mostly payola from publishers who wanted to make a camouflaged contribution. https://www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/industry-news/book-deals/article/72949-the-obamas-book-deals-spark-65-million-mystery.html https://slate.com/culture/2017/03/just-how-outrageous-is-the-obamas-alleged-65-million-book-deal.html

ruralcounsel: Obama probably didn't write much of his books.
It's almost certainly his story, though probably somewhat embellished. At the time Dreams From My Father was published, Obama was a candidate for the Illinois state Senate, so he was hardly a major figure. That is not to say he didn't have a ghost writer or significant help with editing. That's not atypical in the memoir business. But you can tell from listening to Obama that he is articulate and well-read. ruralcounsel: He made his real money selling some nonsense about making content for Netflix, IIRC. The Obamas were already reasonably rich by then, having made millions of dollars in book sales. But yeah, after they left the White House, they made a lot of money from entertainment deals and still more books. That's allowed. ruralcounsel: If you look closely at his book deals, I suspect you'll find that it was mostly payola from publishers who wanted to make a camouflaged contribution. Sure, because book publishers always sell millions of copies of a book written by a Black man with an odd sounding name and aspiring to be elected to the high office of, er, the state Senate. Today, the Obamas are very famous with a strong following, including among women and in the Black community. Of course, they can sell books and movies. That's allowed. The $65 million deal post-dates Obama's presidency. The Obamas had a proven record of publishing success. Since then, Becoming has sold 14 million copies, while A Promised Land has sold more than 3 million copies. And the deal is not yet done. (Publishers routinely make $5 per copy, so that means Penguin has already recouped their advance, have the prestige of being the Obamas' publisher, and the next books are gravy.) The question concerned "perp walks" and the corrupt use of "power and influence" to get rich. But the source of the Obamas wealth is public and is due largely to their books, and more recently, their entertainment deals. None of that is corrupt.

Those book sale figures are (1) suspect, (2) don't factor in how many were sold discounted, (3) how many were bought in bulk as masquraded political contributions. Particularly the post-Presidential ones, where little can be gained in favortism.
Same way the former mayor of Baltimore "sold" her books. She's in prison now. And if IIRC, Obama was on the verge of signing some legislation that favored the publishers. Conflict of interest, much? Last I heard, Netflix wasn't getting their quid pro quo from the deal they signed, but weren't trying to recover any of their investment. Leftist organizations betraying their stockholders in order to fund their bought-and-paid-for pols. So let's have a forensic audit of all of these deals. Yes? In order to quell any doubts by the voters. Isn't public integrity worth it?

After all, isn't he the guy that said "If you've got a business, you didn't build that."
And also: 'I mean, I do think at a certain point you've made enough money.' How many beach front properties does he own now ... after pushing climate change propaganda? Voters are perfectly justified in thinking he doesn't deserve any of his wealth.

Just saying so isn't evidence, but just a form of hand waving. "The proof is over there, somewhere." ruralcounsel: how many were bought in bulk as masquraded political contributions. Obama was a best-selling author before he had political power. ruralcounsel: Particularly the post-Presidential ones, where little can be gained in favortism. Huh? That contradicts your claim that the book purchases were for political influence.
