Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

I fully expected that after the flood in Texas that thee would be repercussions both political and monetarily. I didn't expect left wing vitriol to try to blame the flood on Trump and all Republicans. And I didn't expect racial groups to spread racial animosity over the disaster. Apparently one black political appointee in Texas thinks that the little white girls that died deserved it because they were little white girls. This is the culture of the left. It is how they thing 24/7/365, but we only get a glimpse of it when something like this makes them want to share their vile beliefs with the rest of the world.
Has anyone read the book 1491, by Charles C. Mann? The Americas were a very interesting place, well before Columbus showed up. I’m unclear on just what the population totals were. The book makes claim that the numbers far exceeds that of Europe. I was struck by the difference in cultures. Very little written language in the Americas. No wheels. No gun powder. No sailing ships that we know of. At least not of the type that brought Columbus to the west. They hadn’t reached the age of iron. They conquered the land, but in a much different way than in Europe, the Middle East and China. Why? Not much value placed on what we refer to as wealth. A vast economy, but an economy that only seemed to serve the god king. But, they all seemed to be well fed. Anyway, it’s all pretty interesting. Especially when you consider that we don’t really know how the place became populated.
I’m sure there are readers of this blog much smarter than me. That have studied the history. I would love to read your insights. The Epstein story becomes more bizarre everyday. They hide all the tapes and data and brazenly tell us that there is nothing. Of course we know that they are lying and hiding the truth. Soon this undeniable fact will force the elite, the deep state to come up with something else to appease us and shut us up. What? I think they will declare that for national security reasons all of the files on Epstein must be classified top secret and anyone who questions this or fails to report only the government position will be investigated. For some reason, they have to shut this down and they will. Not to justify what they are saying, but I think Epstein was a Mossad agent and was infiltrating our government and alphabet agencies and extorting and blackmailing them and in that process put our country at risk and may have precipitated federal actions around the world that have made the world less safe.
Kash still claims that Epstein killed himself. Let’s review what happened:
https://x.com/goddeketal/status/1942466936010420302 She took off the cross … so she can lie about Epstein. https://x.com/MyLordBebo/status/1942480338602639743 It reminds me of Watergate; the second coup in my lifetime but not the last. Woodward was part of a in house (white house) conspiracy to undermine Nixon. Woodward was plant at the Washington Post to further the coup against Nixon. Nixon had know knowledge of the Watergate break-in but it was used to push him out of office. Deep throat was a CIA operative that was moved to the FBI and by Director Hoover set up to feed info to Woodward. Most of the Watergate break-in group were also CIA operatives acting under the CIA's orders. As part of the planning for the Coup Spiro Agnew had to be removed and replaced with another CIA operative; Gerald Ford. The trap was set and sprung during the election hoping that Nixon would lose because of the taint but the backup was impeachment. And the rest is unknown, top secret, deniable history, Look up the Moorer-Radford spy ring. Notice the similarity between it and Mark Milley. The 2020 election was the third presidential coup in my lifetime.
It is there to see if you look. The deep state may have put other presidents in power or removed other presidents who failed to toe the line. The deep state has certainly sabotaged other presidents during their time in office. The first presidential coup? JFK of course. And don't forget JFK Jr. Not really a coup, maybe a pre-coup. He had the temerity to want to run against Hillary for Senate. It would have been a stepping stone to the presidency. I read Geoff Shepard's books and they were eye-opening. But it is hard to change anyone's mind about what "watergate" actually was. The scandal wasn't Nixon -- the scandal really was EVERYONE else taking down Nixon.
The notion that any evidence incriminating powerful or well known people was not taken/"lost" well before Jan 20, 2025 is absurd.
re The saddest part is that the weather warnings were ignored
I tried to tell that to my lefty wife and she dismissed that fact completely. The fault lies with Trump for downsizing the NWS in her fevered brain. No links to support that assertion other than left wing accusations. She just knows. Then she produced some clips of some victims that were unwavering in their opinion that there were no warnings at all, to support her position. Sadly, when frequent severe weather warnings are frequent, and are often false (micro-weather events that occur elsewhere, just wrong, or never seem to cause the cited issue), people sometimes just quit paying sufficient attention...especially in the middle of the night. It's a tragedy, and the NWS did all they could to warn people.
I think one of the thoughts was that the last time anything like it happened was 1987. And the kids who died, died as a result of trying to flee. so maybe part of the thought was to NOT get in the car and go.
It is extremely difficult for people to image something horrible beyond their experience. If you have never experienced some sort of catastrophic flooding, your imagination about how awful it can be is limited. That is true in my life regarding tornado warnings. Living right in the middle of tornado alley I rarely take shelter due to warnings, and at the last minute when I do. There are just too many of them.
Flooding, especially in hill country, is much more dangerous though. |
