Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Sorry for all the website troubles. Maggie’s is just about my favorite website, and I sure hope you can get things sorted. What a great mix of current events, history, little known facts,and of course, hunting, fishing, flying and boating. And Bob. And a reasoned perspective on all of it. Good luck!! Gene

I cringe every time I see that database/diskspace error, I have dealt with serendipity before.

Have been reading this site with my coffee for years, I found it looking for pruning advice and kept coming back.

If you need help give me a shout, I have been running servers and blogs since dial-up.

I know you know what a lifesaver you have been for me. I am 81 now, so I will need you for at least three more years--try to hang on for five, because if (when) the real conflict begins we will all need you!

I'm more suspicious of your hosting service than of the interface.

If you convert to Wordpress you will want to make sure that your email and history as well as media files will also remain functional. To insure that you will want to make a backup in your current format and then make whatever copies or conversion files are appropriate for the new system.

There many places that will do transfer or conversion for you for modest fees.

You can always give notice if you want to raise funds for the project from contributors.

You need to make the jump to substack along with everyone else. They never seem to have problems, and you could even raise some money with voluntary subscriptions.

Substack is the best thing to come along since sliced mousetraps.

I'm old school, if it is working you don't mess with it. Who messed with it?

I knew bloggers 10 years ago who couldn't resist tweaking the SQL files and such so find the one that did that or just like that and punish him, very very severely. Take away his shooting sticks or something.

It's too late now of course. Somebody poked it pretty hard with a stick and broke something inside.

Doesn't matter. Don't do substack please.
