We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

In late breaking news, Pope Francis passed away early Mon morning. It'll be interesting to see if the new, elected Pope, follows in the footsteps of Pope Francis or Pope Benedict, while of course following God.

David Hogg wants to jump the shark. I'm not even sure he knows he is advocating communism. What he wants to do is jump over the Socialism step right into communism. Most Democrats at least say they want to go to a Socialism style of government as a precursor to shifting to communism but Hogg wants to skip that step. He's not alone but most of those on the left who want communism are at least smart enough to disguise their intent under Socialist rhetoric.

Boasberg has been 'coloring' outside the lines of the law since Russia, Russia, Russia hoax. While sitting on the FISA court, under chief justice Roberts jurisdiction, Boasberg accepted false testimony from the FBI in order to maintain FISA approved spying on the Trump administration. When an FBI lawyer, Clinesmith, falsified information in the Russia hoax, it was Boasberg who gave Clinesmith nothing more than probation for a year. Boasberg has a history of dishonesty and malfeasance.

The Quillette journalist went out of his way to be fair to the purported villain(s) in Canada, and I still think they were wrong. Perhaps less deeply wrong, a fault of moral weakness rather than pure meanness. Exercises like that are useful for all of us, even if they don't end up changing our minds. It's good practice.

Raskin's threat shows how MAGA is a threat to globalism as a whole, beyond just the US.

Maybe our current troubles are just part of World Cold Civil War.
