We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Did this cruise last year before Christmas
Wonderful experience and I highly recommend it
Thanks to all the Maggie’s Farmers For this great site
One of these years I hope to join your walk in Manhattan
A few years ago, my wife and I took the Viking River Cruise from Amsterdam to Bucharest. The section of the Danube between Regensburg and Budapest is not to be missed. Highly recommended. Passau is one of my favorite places to visit on this journey, second only to the beautiful Dürnstein in Austria.
Was stationed in Germany multiple times with the Army and have traveled extensively throughout Europe; love Germany, and Austria and Hungary. No issues with any of those, believe me. But having also lived in Slovakia for three years (again, thanks to the Army), I cannot fathom why Viking (and others) completely ignore that country. (They don't even identify it on their map!). Slovakia is a real gem, and it's Viking's (and its clients') loss to give it such short shrift. (I suppose I should be glad that it remains a secret for the rest of us!)
We did that trip in the summer of 2017, but in the other direction. It was wonderful. The boat is big enough to be comfortable but small enough that there weren't armies of people everywhere you went. We were able to get on the tours we wanted, a couple at the last minute. It helped quite a bit that the other passengers we met were lovely people.
