We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Well, yes. Feminists have been describing pregnancy as an illness since the 1970s if not before, and Greens routinely compare human beings (babies included) to cancer or AIDS. The comparison of human life to vile creatures is common among Socialists and their ideological offspring.
A great example is the use of the term 'risk' in relation to pregancy. In a sane world pregancy is a blessing and desire not a risk to be guarded against. Of course in a sane world people organize themselves into an optimized structure, marriage, for bringing babies into the world and sex is the method to accomplish this, not just a form of entertainment.
That was quite an abrupt turn in history for the English --Battle of Bosworth Field, the last English king to die in battle, the close-out of the Angevin Dynasty and in the English taxonomny the 'end of the Middle Ages', the Richard III the last Plantagenet, the end of the fifteenth century.
The new was the Bosworth Field winning general Henry the Tudor, become Henry VII, the first Tudor, and the opening of the great Elizabethan and Shakespearian era.
Anyone who believes in omens and the indomitability of the true English spirit: Take Note of Finding of the Bones!
No doubt some men cheat with single women and no doubt some women cheat with single men. If your point is that more married men cheat then married women then you are also saying more single women have affairs with married men then single men do with married women. Is that your belief and do you think that is good? the problem is the math. If the intent is to demonize one gender it cannot be done without either demonizing the other as well OR showing you failed 3rd grade math. My theory is simple; humans are human and subject to human errors and bad judgement. It is unlikely that either gender has a corner on the "fooling around". It is what we humans do; men and women.
I agree. There was nothing in my comment that said only men are the cheaters. I just didn't like the tone of the article that implied the wife (or husband) weren't doing enough to keep their husband (or wife) from straying.
An athlete was walking along the infield of an international track and field event carrying a vaulting pole when a reporter came up asked, "are you a pole vaulter?", the athlete replied, "no I'm Norvegian, but how'd you know my name vas Valter?"
People who don't want to pay for birth control are just like people who refuse to pay for leukemia treatments.
And like people who won't buy everyone else's food for them. And their housing. And clothes. And beer. And movies. And vacations.
See, it's easy when you have no concept why anyone should ever pay his own expenses, and no cogent way of distinguishing ordinary, predictable expenses from low-probability exposure to very high costs. One calls for living within one's means, while the other can be addressed with insurance.
Interesting mortality statistic: your chances of dying from a gun shot are less than your chances of dying as a passenger in an auto accident. Ban private cars! Driving is a privilege. There is no inherent Constitutional right to drive. If just one life is saved, it will be worth it. Do it for the children.
In a conversation, speakers and listeners take turns: one person speaks while the other listens, then the listener becomes the speaker and the speaker becomes the listener. After 4 years of the Obama presidency, I don't recall when Obama has ever listened. It's hard to hold a "conversation" with someone who thinks he's the smartest guy in the room and has so little respect for the opinions of others.
